Gallery – Explore Fluid Art Styles

Welcome to the Cary Art Studio Gallery

Step into the colorful world of Fluid Art — where color, motion, and imagination blend to create something truly unique.

Every piece you see here was created by Maggie Kehoe using professional artist-grade paints such as Amsterdam, Golden, and Liquitex.

Each technique tells its own story — some calm and flowing, others bold and dynamic — but all are full of energy and movement.

Flip Cup Technique

The Flip Cup is one of the most exciting fluid art methods. A cup filled with layers of paint is flipped onto the canvas and lifted to reveal swirling, unpredictable patterns.

Cloud Pour Technique

The Cloud Pour uses paint of varying density to create soft, cloud-like formations that float across the canvas. It’s a mesmerizing style that feels peaceful and dreamy.

Swipe Technique

In the Swipe, paint is gently pulled across the surface using tools like paper towels or palette knives to reveal colorful ribbons and cells. This method allows for stunning textures and visual depth.

Bloom Technique

The Bloom technique combines layers of paints and cell activators to form lacy web-like bursts of color. It’s bold, elegant, and always unique.

Traveling Ring Pour Technique

Unlike the standard Ring Pour, the Traveling Ring Pour moves the cup in arcs across the canvas, creating layered waves that resemble rings in motion. Maggie prefers this over the “tree ring” version for its dynamic and fluid design.

Dip Technique

The Dip Technique involves placing an object onto wet paint or pressing two surfaces together to transfer color patterns. It’s often used for ornaments, coasters, and smaller functional art pieces.

Collage Paper & Greeting Cards (Bonus Category)

These colorful collage papers are created using watercolor powder and fluid art techniques. The results are vibrant, textured sheets perfect for crafting greeting cards and mixed-media designs.
